Sarkozy Honors Sundance Kid

French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Thursday afternoon honored Robert Redford, 74 years old, with the French Legion of Honor. The Sundance Kid and film director was honored by Sarkozy for his lifetime of achievements as well as his support for the protection of the environment. Sarkozy made Redford a Knight in the Legion of Honor.

Redford's environmental activism spans back decades. It is one of the principles upon which he founded the Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival held every year in January in Park City, Utah.

Redford's wife, Sybille Szaggers, a German born artist, accompanied him to the Elysee Palace, the official state residence of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, on Thursday afternoon for the intimate ceremony. Previous inductees include Clint Eastwood.

Paris 14 September 2010 – For its 26th edition, MIPCOM is preparing to welcome a host of international television and cinema stars.

Heading the lineup is actor, director, producer, Robert Redford who will be attending this year’s MIPCOM to celebrate the first anniversary of Sundance Channel in Europe. As the founder of Sundance Channel, Robert Redford will participate in a media question and answer session on Wednesday,October 6, during which he will discuss the Sundance Channel's international expansion plans. US-based Rainbow Media Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE: CVC), has launched its Sundance Channel, WE tv and RUSH HD brands internationally and manages their global expansion.

Cannes will be infected by the highly-anticipated series, The Walking Dead,brought by Fox International Channels (and Entertainment One) to MIPCOM. Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens, Armageddon, The Incredible Hulk) who also produces the guild's Produced By conference and talent, Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Teachers, Strike Back) and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break) will invade the Croisette to promote the series. The Walking Dead is produced by AMC and based onRobert Kirkman’s best- selling graphic novel by the same name. The show tells the story of a group of survivors trying to persevere in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse.
